Mohenjo daro, one of the largest cities of Indus Civilization, covers an area of approximately one square kilometer. Mohenjo daro and some other Indus cities consist of two sectors, a western "Citadel" and an eastern "Lower City". Size and layout are typical criteria for differentiating cities from villages.

Note: Mohenjo daro is also spelled "Moenjo-daro", which is the spelling used by the UNESCO World Heritage Organization.
